Thousands of poor immigrants settled in Manhattan’s gritty lower east side around the turn of the 20th century, carving out lives for themselves by doing anything to make a living.
Above, Sara Roosevelt park cuts through a large part of the neighborhood, intersecting Broome Street that was home to several tenements buildings of the time.


NYC is an amazing city……my second favorite in the world second to Dublin.

There’s a tenement museum down there somewhere that is supposed to be pretty cool…
